Step 1: Add Tests
The Tests tab is where you choose what skills candidates will be tested on. Pick a test type on the left, then add one or more tests of that type. Available test types include Quiz, Programming, English Communication (CEFR), Psychometric, Video Response, Typing Test, SQL, Excel, and CSS. See Test Types for what each one measures. For every test type you can choose between two content sources:
You can mix both freely in one assessment. For quizzes, use Add Skill to test up to 6 skills inside a single quiz, or Add Quiz to add another quiz as a separate test. See Testing Multiple Skills for when to use which.
The builder enforces a few rules before you can proceed: every assessment needs at least 1 test, every Equip-content quiz needs at least 1 skill with question counts set, an Equip quiz holds at most 25 questions in total, an Excel test needs at least 1 question, and a programming test needs at least 1 language enabled.
Step 2: Order Tests and Set Weightage
The Test Order tab controls the sequence in which candidates see the tests and how much each test counts toward the Overall Score.1
Arrange the tests
Drag tests into the order you want candidates to attempt them. Candidates take tests one by one, in this sequence.
2
Set weightage per test
Assign each test a weightage. The weightages must add up to exactly 100; the Overall Score is the weighted average of test percentages. Weightage is split equally by default.
3
Review the estimated duration
Equip computes the Estimated Assessment Duration automatically from the timers on every question and test.
- Proctoring settings are configured per test here, not in the Settings tab. See Proctoring Settings.
- The Randomize icon on coding tests lets you attach a pool of Programming or SQL questions so each candidate receives one at random. See Randomize Coding Questions.
Step 3: Configure Settings
The Settings tab holds assessment-wide options. The Assessment Title is required, is shown to candidates, and can be up to 100 characters.
Once you save, the assessment appears on your dashboard with Preview and View Candidates actions, and you can start inviting candidates.
Role-Based Suggestions
Not sure which tests to add? Let Equip build the first draft for you.1
Enter the role
Type the role you are hiring for in the role search box, for example “Python Developer”.
2
Select years of experience
Choose the experience range for the role. Both fields are required before suggestions are generated.
3
Review the suggested tests
Equip suggests tests and skills at a difficulty level matched to the experience you selected. Adjust, add, or remove tests before saving.
If you cannot find the role or skill you need, Equip can build the test for you, or you can create a custom test. See Can’t Find a Role or Skill for both options.
