Before You Start
Sign in and verify your email
Equip does not ask you to create an account or set a password. You verify your identity with your email address.1
Open your assessment link
Click the link in your invitation email, or open the shared URL your recruiter gave you. On the “Sign in to continue” page, enter your email address to receive a verification code.
2
Verify your email
Equip sends a 6-digit code to that email address. Enter the code and select Verify & Continue. The code expires in 30 minutes, so complete this step promptly.
3
Confirm your name
Equip asks you to confirm your first name, last name, and email address.
4
Fill in your details
Your recruiter may ask for a few details before the assessment begins, such as your phone number, LinkedIn URL, college, graduation year, or work experience. You are only asked for information the recruiter enabled and Equip does not already have.
If you were invited by email, your link is unique to you. The verification code is always sent to the invited email address, so the link cannot be used by anyone else. You can, however, open it yourself on a different device and continue where you left off.
Read the instructions page
After signing in, an instructions page greets you by name and shows how the assessment is structured, for example “test 1 of 3”. It lists instructions for each test, any custom notes from your recruiter, and guidance specific to each test type, such as quiz navigation rules or available programming languages. Some assessments also have a start window. If your recruiter set one, you will see a message like “You can only start the assessment after ” or “before ”. You cannot begin outside that window.Attempt the demo tests
Before the actual tests, Equip shows a Demo Tests page. Demo tests take about a minute, are completely free, and let you get comfortable with the interface and proctoring setup before anything counts.Check your device
Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop is the safest choice for any assessment. Some test types also work on phones, while others require a desktop.
Desktop-only tests carry a Desktop Only badge, and your recruiter may block phones and tablets entirely. If a test will not load, check your webcam and microphone, then try incognito mode, then a different browser, then a different device. See Device Compatibility for full guidance.
During the Test
Proctoring and consent
Most assessments are proctored by AI. Depending on what your recruiter configured, Equip may access your camera, microphone, and screen while a test is running. Before each test starts, you see exactly which proctoring measures are active, and you consent to the proctoring report being shared with your recruiter. Grant camera and microphone permissions when your browser asks, or the test cannot begin.Timers
There is no single countdown for the whole assessment. Time limits apply per test or per question, and a time-remaining display stays visible while you work.Quiz display modes
Quizzes behave differently depending on how your recruiter set them up. The instructions on screen always tell you which mode you are in.In a one-by-one quiz, reloading the page blocks your current question and moves you to the next one. Avoid refreshing unless you have to.
Other test types
Coding tests run in a browser-based editor where you pick your programming language. SQL tests give you a live query environment, Excel tests use a simulated spreadsheet, and CSS tests show your output next to the target design. For audio and video response questions, the allowed number of retakes and the minimum and maximum answer durations are shown on screen and enforced automatically. If you get disconnected
Losing your connection or accidentally closing the tab does not end your assessment. Click the same assessment link again from any device and Equip resumes your attempt wherever possible. Proctoring keeps working through the outage: evidence is captured offline and synced once you reconnect. For tests with per-question timers, the question you were on is forfeited and you continue from the next one. For tests with per-test timers, the clock keeps running while you are away. See Resume Your Attempt for details.Submitting
Submit each test
You complete and submit each test in order before moving to the next. For audio and video answers, an upload progress indicator appears after you submit, with diagnostics if your connection is slow. Stay on the page until the upload finishes. The completion screen
When you finish the final test, you see the Assessment Completed screen with a green check mark and the note “You may contact your recruiter for the results.” At this point you can safely close the tab. Some recruiters configure a redirect. In that case the completion screen shows “You will be automatically redirected in 5 seconds. Please wait.” and then takes you to their chosen page. Results
Equip shares your scores and reports with the recruiter who invited you. Contact your recruiter directly for your results and next steps.Related Resources
