When you create a job opening on Equip, a three-step wizard walks you through Job Post (details candidates see), Application Form (fields candidates fill out), and Candidate Pipeline (stages and automations). This article covers the first step: the job post itself.
The fastest way to fill in a job post is to upload an existing job description PDF or paste its text. Equip’s AI parses it and pre-fills every field, usually in 30-45 seconds. See AI Job-Description Import below.

Job Post Details

The job post details capture the facts about the role: structured fields that Equip uses to power filters on your careers page and the Job Fit Score, and free-text boxes for describing the role in your own words. The wizard groups all of these into four sections.

Important Fields

  • Job title and an optional role (what the industry calls it)
  • Seniority level and employment type
  • Minimum and maximum years of experience

Job Details

  • Salary range with currency and frequency
  • Work arrangement (on-site, remote, or hybrid), with locations, location restrictions, and an optional timezone restriction
  • A hybrid policy description for hybrid roles
  • Job Summary, Responsibilities, and Perks & Benefits helps you explain the role in your own words; see Rich-Text Sections below for what to put in each

Candidate Requirements

  • Mandatory and preferred skills
  • Minimum education qualification and course or specialization
  • Additional Requirements, see Rich-Text Sections below

Additional Info

  • Status, employment start date, and application deadline
  • A key callout, a short highlight line that stands out on the post
  • An optional Google Maps URL for the office location
The dropdown fields offer these options:
You can edit any of these details after the job opening is created. The opening’s Settings page has the same three tabs as the creation wizard: Job Post, Application Form, and Candidate Pipeline.

AI Job-Description Import

If you already have a job description, you do not need to retype it. Upload it and let Equip’s AI fill in the form.
1

Upload or paste your JD

On the Job Post step, use Upload Job Description PDF to drag and drop a PDF or click Choose PDF File to browse. PDF is the only supported file format, with a 10 MB size limit. You can also paste the job description as plain text instead.
2

Wait for parsing

Equip shows “Uploading file…” and then “Processing your PDF…”. Parsing usually takes 30-45 seconds.
3

Review the pre-filled fields

The AI pre-fills all job fields, including the rich-text sections. Review each field, correct anything the parser missed, and continue to the next step.
If parsing does not complete within about a minute, Equip shows “Unable to Parse PDF” and switches to manual entry. Nothing is lost; you simply fill in the fields yourself.
Starting from scratch? Equip provides a sample job description for a Data Analyst role that you can load as a starting point and adapt.

Rich-Text Sections

Beyond the structured fields, the job post has four rich-text sections where you describe the role in your own words: Keep these sections candidate-focused and scannable. The structured job details already cover experience, skills, salary, and location, so use the rich-text sections for context rather than repeating those facts.

Field Limits

Equip validates the job post before it can be published. These are the limits to keep in mind:
The application deadline cannot be set more than 6 months out. If your role stays open longer, extend the deadline from the opening’s Settings page before it passes.

Job Post Status

Every job post has a status that controls whether candidates can see it and apply. You change it from a dropdown on the Job Openings dashboard.
Only Published job posts appear on your careers page. Hiding or archiving a post removes it from the public listing without deleting any of its applications.
Once the job post is complete, continue to the Application Form step to choose which fields candidates fill out.
